Here is the transcription to the last week listening:
John, this is the third month in a row you're missed your sales goal. Frankly, I believe you could have made those goals if you hadn't spent so much time sticking your nose where it didn't belong. Sometimes I think you're more interested in making sure everyone likes you than in doing your job. I'm afraid I'm going to have to let you go. You've been a real disappointment. Here's your final paycheque. Clean out your desk.

I've gained four kilos in four months. It's incredible. I used to look like Mr. Universe, but ever since I started working here, I can't find time to go to the gym and just sit all day talking on the phone and working on the computer. My life is quickly becoming sedentary, so sedentary that I'm starting to feel lazy even on the weekends. And business lunches are the worst of all. We start out with two or three martinis and then stuff ourselves.

A recent survey found that women prefer men without facial hair. Only three percent of women like men with beards and only eight percent like moustaches. As for the fashion in recent years in which men leave one or two days of beard growth, only two percent of the women surveyed found that fashion to their liking. So, men, you know what you have to do: shave every day.

Which would you rather have, a sure gain of 3,000 euros or an 80 percent chance of winning 4,000 euros and a 20 percent chance of winning nothing? And what if it were a choice between a sure loss of 3,000 euros or an 80 percent chance of losing 4,000 euros and a 20 percent chance of losing nothing? Our willingness to accept risk is higher when we are facing possible loss than when the identical risk is presented in terms of potential gain.

The fire's going to go out if you don't put some more wood on it. We have to keep it burning no matter what. We've run out of matches and no one here has a cigarette lighter, so let's all go out and break off branches from the trees to keep the fire going all night. Otherwise we'll freeze to death.

You know, I've noticed that everyone in this country stirs their coffee from left to right, that is, clockwise. Ever since I started drinking coffee I've always stirred it from right to left, counter-clockwise, or as my British friends would say, anti-clockwise. Well, to tell you the truth, I don't stir coffee any more. For the past two years I only drink black coffee... with no sugar and with no milk or cream.

The old woman received three telephone calls from a man who could hardly say an intelligible word but whose voice sounded strangely like that of her dead husband. The next morning she went to the cemetery and found that the stormy winds the night before had broken some telephone wires and one of them had fallen directly on her husband's grave.

If you'll just be a little patient, I'll show you how to use the new tool. It was designed by the people over in I.T., and if you learn to use it right, it'll channel all e-mail contacts into a central file so that everyone will know what everyone else has said or done with a given contact. That way, when you call a customer or prospect, you'll have an immediate background file on every contact made from here with that person or firm.

Don't expect MarĂa to follow your advice. I've known her for ages and she's never once followed any advice of mine. She´s pathologically independent and likes to assert this fact. When she needs to make an important decision, she often consults a lot of people, but she usually ends up designing her own solution.

It wasn't supposed to rain today. Now how am I going to get to my car without getting soaked to the bone? What time is our next meeting? If we have time, I'd rather wait until the storm blows over before crossing the street to the parking lot. In fact, I'd rather arrive late for the meeting than walk in soaking wet.

It's funny you say that. Just two weeks ago I was talking with a friend about the same question and he said exactly the same thing you did: Johson is going to be fired by the board of directors in the next board meeting. If the two of you are right, then I won't sell my shares yet. With Johnson out the picture, I'm sure the stock price will go up.

Do you really think they're going to believe that story? Why don't you just tell them the truth? They'll realize that you're human after all and will probably forgive you. Besides, we all forget meetings or appointments at some point, so why should you be different? The only difference here is that it wasn't just any appointment. It was your own wedding.

As the policeman approached the shopping center to check on a shoplifting incident, he noticed a man with several plastic bags walking quickly toward a parked car. He ordered the man to stop, shouting the order three times. Finally he pulled out his gun and shot him dead. The man never heard the policeman's order because he was a student at the local school for the deaf.

Alfred Adler, a famous Austrian psychologist, once said that the chief danger in life is that we may take too many precautions. That's easy to say, especially if, like Alfred Adler, you have few financial worries. For normal people like me, I have to be extremely careful with my money and how I invest it.

If you don't make up your mind pretty soon, somebody will make it up for you. We've got to have a decision on the Peterson project by the end of this month or we'll risk losing the entire contract. You're the general manager and they think you're calling all the shots on this. It wouldn't be good to give them a different impression at this point in time.

It must have been around 4:30 before I was able to go back to sleep. It seems that the older I get, the more trouble I have getting a good night's sleep.

There's been a breach in security. Last night somebody got into the server and messed up several database files. We'll need a couple of days to get things back the way they were, but I'm worried about how this happened. Whoever it was could've destroyed more than a year's work.

We've been going over the figures on the new construction project and we feel that it's not the right time yet to seek a partner. The last joint venture we got involved in was a fiasco in the end and we're still paying for it. We'd like a couple more months to see how operations are progressing in general before commiting a new alliance.
